Meet the Crew
We are a family with a common love for sailing and adventure.
Get to know the faces of S/V TheMandalorian!
Tara
“Admiral Wifey"
As I write this I am approaching my 51st birthday, have just passed the proposal phase of the dissertation process for my PhD in Industrial & Organizational Psychology to go along with my Master's of Science degree in Management & Leadership, and am starting my own human capital consulting business. I am a proud registered nurse by training, teacher and advocate by nature. We had discussed this adventure and lifestyle change, but I eventually catalyzed it after some major life changes hit hard in a short period of time a few years ago.
Rather than dwell on what isn’t, I decided to follow my gut and do the thing I always wanted to do, become an adventurer and experience the world on my terms. I'm a water baby (cancer) and must live near, or better yet, on the sea. Committing to supporting and learning together with "Captain Bry" is something I don't take on lightly, but I know we are ready and able to jump headlong into this adventure. Who can argue with working remotely from an office with the best view in the world. What an adventure we’re going to have!
Bryan
“Captain Bry"
Bryan grew up in Alaska and has adventure and exploring in his blood. Whether it’s snowboarding, mountain bike racing, mountaineering, or boating, he takes the time to learn the skills to be the best. After 10 years in the US Coast Guard as a boatswain mate aboard two separate 378’ cutters, he’s seen some sea time and earned his Golden Dragon and Golden Shellback, even getting to be King Neptune for a time.
Taking the history and lore of the sea to heart is fun but reminds us that these stories are usually based in part on real events. Mother nature and the sea are not to be messed with and having the proper respect and approach to adventuring is crucial. This family wouldn’t be doing anything like this if we didn’t have "Captain Bry" by our side. This is one more adventure in the life we promised each other and we’re excited to see where it takes us.
Xena
“Swabby Doggie"
Xena is amazing. She’s the love of our life and yes, she’s our fur baby. She’s also a little bitey, scary smart, and the best and most loyal puppy anyone could dream of having in their life. She is a cattle dog, but believe it or not, LOVES to swim. Xena has done a great job transitioning from a house with a 1/2 acre fenced “doggie nirvana” yard to our tiny living lifestyle in an RV and now boat life. She’s a bit of a stoner when the waves get rough (CBD oil for anxiety) but there’s no judgement allowed aboard TheMandalorian. We follow the lead of and try to be worthy of our K9 best swabby by accepting and giving love and friendship freely and doing our best to pay it forward when someone needs help or support. Tara wants to add to the population of the boat with another puppy to keep Xena company. We’re not sure what Xena thinks about that just yet!
